Anna Känzig

Whether electronic folk, nu soul or chamber pop: Anna Känzig's musical universe knows no boundaries, which is not surprising given that the Zurich-born singer-songwriter grew up in a highly musical environment - her uncle is the well-known Swiss jazz musician Heiri Känzig - and thanks to her creative parents' excellently curated record collection, she came into contact at an early age with the most important and stylistically influential music from all genres. Anna therefore found her vocation at an early age, which she was later allowed to make into her profession: she began playing the guitar at the tender age of five. Bass and piano followed, singing anyway. After her Matura at the Kantonsschule Stadelhofen Zurich, she developed her memorable and expressive voice in the Jazz Department of the Zurich University of the Arts. Bachelor's, Master's and the subsequent sponsorship award were the initial start of her career: in 2009 she was allowed to perform at the renowned Montreux Jazz Festival even though she had no album in her repertoire yet. Her first and second albums, still committed to unplugged folk, were released in 2011 and 2013 respectively, were independent successes and drew the attention of a wider audience to her music. And also the A&R people of the major label Sony Music, who launched their third longplayer "Sound and Fury", which at the same time marked a change in direction towards electronic pop and reached number 7 in the Swiss album charts in 2016. Their song Lion's Heart became the official anthem for the Jeder Rappen 2016 fundraising campaign by Swiss radio and television and Swiss Solidarity. Anna Känzig is thus the first woman to contribute the official JRZ song. Extensive and successful tours and two Swiss Music Award nominations followed. The third album by Anna Känzig, written by Anna and her drummer Django Hodosy and arranged by London Grammar Producer Roy Kerr, was recorded in London and released in spring 2019 and her current music project is with Swiss musician Tobey Lucas. And it quickly becomes clear that two musicians with the same passion have found each other here: The beauty of polyphonic singing. The beauty of the polyphonic singing merges into a unique mixture and forms the foundation of their collaboration - as if this bond had always been there. Both Anna and Tobey have appeared as solo acts over the years. Their joint project always remains alive behind the big scenes. In 2018 they decide to permanently unite their singing as a duo. With producer Georg Schlunegger they write the album "Two Of A Kind", which will be released in August 2020. The polyphonic singing remains the great trademark of all the newly written songs, which deal with the small and big moments of happiness, harmony and togetherness.
